Inspiration for the Coming Year

This time of year is always so exciting: planning for the garden, ordering spring chicks, coming up with new ideas and projects.

It can sometimes be a little overwhelming, but we love it! It’s fun to look back at old pictures for ideas and inspiration for what’s to come this spring and summer. I wanted to share some of my favorites to get ready for this year and maybe inspire others.

This year, we are excited to:

-Finish the garden fence.

-Plant even more than last year (including lots of potatoes which we skipped last year, and a large corn and pumpkin patch for the pigs).

-Set up grazing paddocks in our wooded-pasture area for the pigs.

-Hopefully welcome our first litter of piglets in the Fall.

-Give meat turkeys another try.

-Try two new breeds of chicken for meat.

-Set up new housing and grazing areas for a new addition to the homestead coming in April.

All while homeschooling and finishing our current kitchen upgrade!

Enjoy the below photos in anticipation of another exciting year of learning new skills, raising animals, and growing our own food.
